What Services Do You Provide and Whom Do You Serve: At Doublemint Sitting, we provide babysitting and nanny services to families with children as young as newborn to teens and young adults with different special needs.
How Can a Good Babysitter/Nanny Affect A Preschoolers Learning Process: The babysitter needs to be engaged in the child’s learning process through educational activities, encouraging reading, being attentive, limiting television and personal phone use.
What Qualities Should a Parent Look For In a Babysitter/Nanny: Responsible, engaging with children- playful and active, reliable, authoritative when needed, trustworthy, flexibility, patient and someone who is able to handle direction.
What Questions Should Every Parent Ask When Interviewing a Potential Babysitter/Nanny:
- How much experience do you have working with children?
- What child care positions have you held in the past?
- How many families have you cared for and how old were the children?
- What activities do you like to do with the children? (art, music, going to the park, bike rides, chalk, etc..)
- Do you have any allergies to cats, dogs, or other pets?
- Are you comfortable driving children?
- Are you comfortable with assisting with homework, possibly making dinner, and/or doing light housework?
- What are your views on discipline? Are you willing to change if we ask?
- What do you do when a child refuses a task you have asked?
- Is there anything special I can have in the fridge for you while you are here?
- What are your future plans?
- How long are you looking to be a sitter/ nanny?
- What are you going to school for?
- What are your strengths/ weaknesses when it comes to children?
- What overwhelms you with children?
What Do Babysitters/Nannies Wish Parents Knew:
- A few things babysitters/ nannies wish parents knew is a thank you goes a long way. Making sure you appreciate your sitters is very important.
- If the total is $48.50 please round up. There is nothing more frustrating than getting an amount like that.
- Do not leave a list of “to do” things for the sitter once the kids are sleeping that include folding your personal clothes, emptying the dishwasher, taking out the trash, and other chores. Ask the sitter if they are comfortable first then offer them a few extra dollars for your household chores.
What Essential Information Should Every Parent Leave For Their Babysitter/Nanny: Emergency contact information, nap/bedtime routine, medicines, and instructions if necessary, list of allergies if applicable, a neighbor in case they need something, an extra key in case they get locked out, art supplies, the WiFi password, a detailed list of dos and don’t.
