Parent Interview

Meet 3-year-old Claire.
Allie, Claire’s mom, happened upon Preschool Readers on Instagram and was immediately hooked on the concept of early reading instruction. As a high school teacher, Allie sees many of her teenage students struggle with reading comprehension skills. With the onset of Covid-19 and more time at home, Allie thought that allowing Claire to build her love of reading was a perfect solution to her not being in a traditional school setting.

Claire was not yet reading when her Preschool Reading Specialist administered her initial reading assessment.
Claire was able to identify upper and lower case letters and their sounds and enjoyed stories in her home library, but she was not yet reading any words by sight.

When Claire’s assessment determined she was ready to begin reading instruction, mom had no apprehension about signing Claire up for Preschool Readers Virtual Instruction, “Teaching on Zoom myself I was never hesitant about Claire learning virtually. I think the novelty of her getting to sit down with my laptop at her own desk and “work” was and still is alluring to her, even at three-and-a-half years old.”

Although parents tend to have reservations about what online education entails for their preschooler, Allie did not allow those fears to stop her from taking advantage of the many benefits of learning to read early.

After only 24 sessions with Preschool Readers, 3-year-old Claire is reading at a kindergarten reading level!
Allie could not be happier with Claire’s reading gains and the structure of her reading sessions, “The fast-paced sessions are filled with various read-along stories, games, and songs that are exciting and, more importantly – fun!

We’ve maximized Claire’s potential through our accelerated instruction, giving her a true academic advantage!
Claire will start PreK this fall with confidence and an edge up on the demanding & rigorous school curriculum.

Claire’s Preschool Reading Specialist, Ms. Cailtin shares, “Claire is amazing!  She is a Kindergarten teacher’s dream.”

We are so proud of Claire!
And, we are beyond grateful to be a part of her reading journey! Mom agrees, “I joke almost weekly how much I want Ms. Caitlin to move so that she can be Claire’s “real” kindergarten teacher when the time comes, but I cherish the time that they do share weekly, as it is a highlight of Claire’s week. In a perfect world, I do think Claire would love to sit at the table with Ms. Caitlin and hug her, but the bond that they have on-screen is just as heartwarming.”

Onto Preschool Readers Phase Two.
Though Claire is back in school, mom has chosen to continue with Preschool Readers. Allie shares, “I am so in love with the Preschool Readers program, Claire’s growth as a reader, and her teacher, Ms. Caitlin, that I am excited to continue her weekly sessions to prepare her for a successful academic career, in pre-K and beyond.”
